Commission Commences National Consultation Program

The National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission (NHHRC) this week commences a seven-week national consultation program that will take Commissioners to all the capital cities and four regional centres.

The Commission will be meeting frontline health workers, representatives of State/Territory and local government, and members of the community.

Chair of the NHHRC, Dr Christine Bennett, said today that the Commission wants to hear what local people have to say about delivery of health services in their area.

“We need to hear from the people who use the health system and the people who work in it. There are great ideas out there and we would like to tap into them,” Dr Bennett said.

The Commission will be holding forums in the following locations, and attendance at all forums is by invitation:
  • Hobart, 28-29 May
  • Dubbo (NSW), 2-3 June
  • Sydney, 4-5 June
  • Alice Springs, 11-12 June
  • Cairns, 16-17 June
  • Brisbane, 18-19 June
  • Melbourne, 24-25 June
  • Shepparton (Vic), 26-27 June
  • Darwin, 2-3 July
  • Perth, 7-8 July
  • Adelaide, 9-10 July
There will also be two days of meetings with peak health groups in Canberra on 23-24 July.

This consultation program complements the Commission’s submission process – talkhealth@nhhrc.org.au and 1800 017 533. The Commission is also holding other specific purpose workshops with key industry bodies and consumer groups.
